Park City, Utah’s IMBA Award
Park City is the first Gold Level
Ride Center according to the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).
The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) ranks locations for possible Ride Center status based on a comprehensive range of criteria including everything from the number of miles of various types of trails, to the quality and quantities of lodging and restaurants in the area. Not only do they want to know if there are pump tracks and lift serviced riding in town, they also ask about trail head facilities, activities for after the ride, and even if there’s a brew pub in town. With all these factors in mind, Park City was designated as the world’s first ever Gold Level Ride Center.
How did Park City become a Gold Level Ride Center? In the words of IMBA’s V.P. of Programs James Clark, “It all stems from a commitment to master planning. The sheer miles of trails are fantastic, but what’s important is that they function as a cohesive network, with signage and trail connections that create a model riding area.” With great options for any level rider and any style of riding, no location better exemplifies the Ride Center ideal of a Gold Level destination. From standout beginner-to-intermediate trails like the Round Valley Trail System to technical expert terrain on Dead Tree and Sweeny’s, the options are expansive. You’ll also find lift-served downhill trails and expertly maintained bike parks.
Park City also offers all the lodging and dining options you’d expect from a world-class resort town. At the heart of it all, the IMBA-affiliated Mountain Trails Foundation pulls riders into a true mountain bike community and keeps them energized with new projects. It all works together in Park City, and it’s what’s pushed this mountain bike destination to the gold standard.
